NEET counselling is the process of seat allotment and admission to various medical and dental colleges across India. The counselling process is conducted in three rounds, including mop-up round and is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the respective state authorities.
Here is a brief overview of the NEET counselling process:
Online Registration: Candidates who have qualified the NEET exam need to register themselves online on the official counselling website of DGHS or respective state counselling authority.
Choice Filling: Candidates need to fill their choices of colleges and courses based on their preference and eligibility.
Seat Allotment: The seats are allotted to candidates based on their rank and choices filled during the counselling process.
Reporting to Allotted College: Candidates who have been allotted seats need to report to the respective college and complete the admission process by submitting the required documents and paying the admission fee.
Mop-Up Round: If there are any vacant seats after the third round of counselling, a mop-up round is conducted to fill the remaining seats.
All India Quota: 15% of the total seats in all government medical and dental colleges in India are reserved for the All India Quota, and the counselling for these seats is conducted by the DGHS.
State Quota: The remaining 85% of the seats are reserved for the state quota, and the counselling for these seats is conducted by the respective state authorities.
Documents Required: Candidates need to carry the original and photocopies of all relevant documents such as NEET admit card, NEET scorecard, class 10 and 12 mark sheets, caste certificate (if applicable), identity proof, and other relevant documents as specified by the counselling authority.
Counselling Fees: Candidates need to pay a non-refundable counselling fee while registering for the counselling process. The counselling fee varies for different categories and authorities.
Seat Allotment: The seat allotment process is based on the candidate's NEET rank, preferences, and availability of seats. Candidates who are allotted a seat need to accept or reject the seat by paying the admission fee or forfeiting the counselling fee.
Upgradation: Candidates who have already accepted a seat in the first or second round of counselling can also participate in the subsequent rounds of counselling for upgradation of seats.
Reporting to College: Candidates who have been allotted a seat need to report to the respective college within the stipulated time frame and complete the admission process by submitting the required documents and paying the admission fee.
